Artisan Collections

An award winning collection showcasing American artists working in a variety of mediums and translating their work into wall coverings

Amy Genser

Amy Genser plays with paper and paint to explore her fascination and obsession with texture, pattern, and color. Evocative of natural forms and organic processes, her work is both irregular and ordered. She constructs her pieces by layering, cutting, rolling, and combining paper. Amy uses paper as pigment.

The sources of her work are from the natural world. She is fascinated by the ow of water, the organization of beehives, and the organic irregularity of plants, owers, rock formations, barnacles, moss, seaweed, aerial views of our landscape, satellite imagery, and biological cellular processes.Amy's work has been published in several books and publications on paper art. Her work is included in private and public collections.

Katrina Doran

Katrina Doran fell in love with making mosaics when her high school teacher brought tesserae to class. The pieces called to Katrina to t them together and produce something beautiful. She loved the process. Then Katrina grouted the piece and love turned to hate.

Eventually Katrina threw the piece away. Her father took the mosaic out of the trash and gave it back to her. Katrina threw the piece away again and her father retrieved it again. After a few more rounds of this it dawned on her that she was not listening to her story. “I am so grateful to my father for knowing this was a signi cant part of who I am.”

“I absolutely love seeing how a mixture of objects, thoughts and collaborations come together as my expression of the world. These expressions bring me joy and delight those who are drawn to my work.”

Clare Minella

PERSONAL

Born in New York, New York
Currently residing and working in Dallas, Texas

EDUCATION
University of North Texas, Bachelor of Fine Arts

Living and traveling throughout Europe, Asia Minor and North Africa inspired an early love for art and the many ways it is expressed in different cultures.  This collage of modern and ancient civilizations created lasting impressions of images and colors that imbue my work today.

After a  career in the interior design business that included designing furniture; painting textiles and wallcoverings; producing a line of custom hardware and creating a line of bespoke pillows, it was a natural seque to my mixed media work on canvas and paper.

Texture is a major element of my work.  By applying paint with packing materials and tools, and in the use of recycled paper and fabric elements, a tactile, three- dimensional quality is achieved.  In manipulating these materials, light, shadows and textures become an integral part of the compositions. Neutral color palettes in matte and metallic paints provide contrasts and free form stitched fabrics add to the collage quality.

Recycling and climate awarness are continuing themes in my work.  Most of the embellishments are found objects and leftover bits and pieces.  As a big fan of a morning cup of tea, I'm also incorporating tea bags into my work.  The floral elements are composed of discarded egg cartons, many donated by friends and neighbors.  They are presented in white or black to reflect the damage to crops and coral reefs from global warming. My new series, New York is Drowning, calls attention to the future of NYC when many areas will be under water.  I approach all of this in a subtle way by addressing ugly issues with beauty.
